Supplementation is Necessary!

Supplementing the diet of most Americans is becoming more and more necessary. This is especially true during pregnancy and with kids who have develoF8B73CPSBKpmental disorders. According to Sands SA, et al. Lipids 2005, 91% of all Americans are deficient in Omega-3 fatty acid, an essential anti-inflammatory nutrient. This deficiency causes chronic inflammation, leading to many different health problems.

Supplementing with all the essential vitamins and minerals is also necessary for the majority of Americans. According to studies done by the USDA in 2007-2008, marginal nutritional deficiencies occur in 50% of the population, and for selected nutrients, 80% of US individuals took in less than the Recommended Daily Intake.

Vitamin levels in food have decreased by more than 37% between 1950-1999, and trace minerals have decreased by 77% between 1940-1991.

In the April 6, 2012 journal, Food Chemistry, it was reported that most commercially available infant formulas contain less than 20% of the minimum daily requirements of dietary minerals and vitamins.

Supplements in the United States are NOT regulated by the FDA, which  allows for many supplements to not meet the high standards we expect.

Fortunately, there are many high quality, well managed supplement companies.  Dr. Kim and Dr. Chris have done extensive research on many supplement companies and can assist you in making the best supplement decisions for you and your family.
